The St. Lucia ConnectEd Activity hosted the “Empowering Youth Interns: A Positive Youth Development Approach” workshop on the 21st of June, 2023. This transformative workshop created a nurturing and empowering environment for young people to gain valuable insights and practical strategies to be successful in the workforce, and focused on fostering positive youth development within the educational and internship landscape of St. Lucia.
Representatives from various stakeholder communities included principals, teachers, employers, youth agencies, as well as students. Through interactive discussions, engaging activities, and case studies, participants learned how to create a supportive culture, develop meaningful relationships, and provide professional growth opportunities for St. Lucian youth.
Mr. Royston Emmanuel, Chief of Party for the activity, alongside Ms. Gilda Marcion, Education Manager, spearheaded the discussions with USAID Ambassador, Mr. Yakub Nestor. Their presentations encouraged promoting resilience and skill building among St. Lucian youth, as well as fostering diversity and inclusivity, and ensuring the holistic well-being of youth interns. The workshop also prepared attendees for the project’s upcoming youth internship set to run from July 17th to August 12th, 2023.
The St. Lucia Connected Activity is a 2-year USAID-funded initiative implemented by
