EdTech Strategy Sessions: PhET Interactive Simulations and Building teacher tech skills using learning communities

Discover new dimensions of the PhET Interactive Simulations project, free, evidence-based digital resources for teaching and learning math and science. Even experienced PhET users will have something more to learn at this session. Come engage in interactive exploratory session and conversation about recent additions to PhET’s core HTML5 simulations, as well as multiple efforts to increase the access and impact of PhET simulations: (0) PhET Virtual Workshops for teacher professional development, (1) inclusive design features to support learning differences, (2) translations to support English language learners, (3) a global PhET Fellowship, and more.

Then, Nell Eckersley, Director of Digital Equity Projects at the Literacy Assistance Center in New York City, facilitates a digital skills learning community for adult education teachers called the Adult Education Google Club. Join to hear what the Google Club does, see some examples of work members have done, and the impact the club has had on the use of digital tools by teachers and the digital skill instruction teachers have integrated into their lessons.
