IDENTIFYING IMPORTANT ISSUES
OBJECTIVE |
DIRECTIONS Begin by doing the following example on the board asking the class to help finish brainstorming solutions to the third issue. Students then identify their own issues and solutions using the outline provided. Students who finish early can begin to think about the specifics of each of their suggested solutions. For example, with respect to the issue of crime, what kind of laws should be passed to restrict the number of people who carry guns? What kinds of punishments would effectively inhibit people from selling guns illegally? When everyone has finished, students can share what they have written with each other.
