Math Beyond Workbooks
Two-Digit Multiplication Dice Game
- skills involved: number sense, place value, multiplication, problem solving
- materials needed: 1 die, paper and pencils
- This game works best with two or three players. The first player rolls a die and writes this digit in one of the boxes in their own 2-digit-by-2-digit multiplication problem, set up like this:
- Take turns rolling the die and writing the digits in the boxes until all four boxes are filled. Once a digit is written down, it cannot be moved.
- The player with the largest product wins!
As a variation, the goal can be changed. Try getting the smallest product or the product closest to 1500.
