Dear Candidate

Purpose of firts paragraph: State why you are writing. What do you want the candidate to tell you?

I would like to know what your position is on three issues that are important to me: crime, welfare, and jobs.

Purpose of second paragraph: State why these issues are important to you. Be as specific as possible.

These issues are important to me because my neighborhood is not a safe place for me and my child. I am a young mother and do not have the skills to get a decent paying job. I have no one to take care of my child while I look for a job and I cannot afford day care.

Pupose of third paragraph: State what you would like to see happen.

I think our government needs to put more money into job training and day care services. If people could find jobs that enabled them to make a decent living, there would not be as much crime.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forward to hearing your position on these issues that are important to me and my community.

Sincerely,
