On the desktop, create 8-10 folders, naming them as pieces of clothing. Keep them on the desktop or place them in another folder. If you have saved them in a folder, have it open so when students begin they can readily see the folders with names of clothing under each.

Activity
  • First, show how to correctly place the hand on the mouse. Then show how the pointer on the screen moves when the mouse is moved. For example, demonstrate that if you move the mouse from the center of the mouse pad to the top right of the pad the pointer will move accordingly. It is helpful to mention that if the mouse moves too close to the edge of the pad they can pick up the mouse and reposition it in the center.
  • After explaining what the icons and folders are, ask students to put the pointer on some of them. Using the mouse, point to icons and say the name of each. Have students repeat the terms, paying attention for correct pronunciation.
  • Next, introduce the areas of the computer screen mentioned below. Use commands to ask students to move the pointer to various parts of the desktop.
Put the pointer in the center of the screen.
