The Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment is a battery of free interactive online modules that assess one’s ability to perform basic computer skills, like using the internet, email, operating systems, Microsoft Office, social media, and information literacy. The goal of the assessment, and the standards on which it is based, is to help job seekers identify skill needs and then demonstrate competencies that can help them to seek, obtain, and retain employment, as well as to perform other tasks in daily life. The EdTech Center at World Education in partnership with the Employment Technology Fund field tested new, updated Northstar assessment modules characterized by updated standards, a new clean look, and a robust html5 native environment that is fully mobile. The webinar will highlight key findings from the research and share with you some insight about how careful attention to the needs of a wide range of end users has resulted in an attractive and useful new assessment.
Our panelists include:
- Jen Vanek, Director of Digital Learning and Research, EdTech Center @ World Education
- Tom Cytron-Hysom, Northstar Project Manager, Consultant to Minnesota Literacy Council
- Lisa Peterson de la Cueva, Director of Education and Training, Community Technology Empowerment Project (CTEP)
