Through an inclusive innovation process, the EdTech Center @ World Education and partner immigrant-serving organizations will develop, pilot, and scale an open-source learning platform to address the needs of adult learner-workers. Supported by the WES Mariam Assefa Fund, the platform created through the Equity in mLearning initiative will ensure millions more immigrants will have access to learning and career navigation content, job referrals, badging and portable learning records, and other critical supports for economic mobility. As remote learning and training become more integrated in our new normal, the platform will respond to the needs of the field for an affordable and easy to navigate mLearning platform and aims to advance solutions that can address the digital divide experienced by immigrants and refugees and the organizations that serve them. An open-source platform is needed to bring life-changing education, industry-specific training, career navigation, and other critical resources and services at scale to immigrants and refugees to help them meet their learning, job-seeking, and career advancement goals.
